51st CEC Bosnia & Herzegovina: A Dynamic Convention in the Heart of Zenica
From September 19 to 21, 2025, the IAESTE Central European community gathered in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina for the 51st Central European Convention (CEC). Hosted at Hotel Zenica, right in the lively Kamberovića Polje area, surrounded by walking paths, sports facilities, and the peaceful flow of the Bosna River, the event brought together learning, culture, and connection in a setting that felt both vibrant and intimate.
A Cultural Start: Discovering Sarajevo
Before the official kickoff, participants had the chance to explore the spirit of Bosnia during the Pre-Conference Tour in Sarajevo. From wandering through the historic streets of Baščaršija to stopping at the famous Sebilj fountain, the group experienced the unique blend of multicultural influences that shape the city. It was an inspiring introduction to a weekend built around international friendship.
Workshops for Every Direction and Every Member
This event’s program featured a rich variety of workshops; ranging from public speaking and marketing to management, team dynamics, and member engagement. The sessions were designed to offer value to both new members and experienced leaders, ensuring that everyone could deepen their skills, broaden perspectives, and bring new insights back home.
Among the contributors were members of the CER Management Team: Kevin Meister, Tamara Danilovska, and Berfin Bağatarhan delivered workshops focused on management, team development, and public relations. Their sessions encouraged participants to reflect on leadership styles, strengthen collaborative practices, and explore new ways of presenting and promoting IAESTE’s work.
Alongside these, many other workshop leaders led interactive, hands-on workshops covering topics such as jobraising, summer reception planning, member recruitment, pitching ideas, and becoming a workshop leader. Together, these sessions created a diverse learning environment where creativity, teamwork, and personal growth blended seamlessly.
Evenings Full of Connection
Social moments were just as meaningful as the educational ones. From the opening ceremony to late-night networking sessions filled with music and games, participants had plenty of opportunities to bond, exchange stories, and build new friendships across the region.
The highlight, as always, was the International Evening, a celebration of cultures, snacks, and traditions that transformed the conference hall into a vibrant showcase of IAESTE’s diversity.
Adventure in the Highlands: Post-Conference Tour to Lukomir
After the closing ceremony on Sunday, the adventure continued with the Lukomir Jeep Tour, taking participants to the highest and most remote village in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With breathtaking views of the Bjelašnica mountains, traditional stone houses, homemade food, and scenic off-road routes, the tour offered a refreshing and unforgettable ending to an already inspiring weekend.
Finishing the journey in Sarajevo made it even easier for participants to continue their travels or head home with memories they won’t soon forget.
