From May 9 to 11, 2025, the IAESTE Central European community gathered in the scenic mountain town of Szczyrk, Poland, to mark a major milestone: the 50th edition of the Central European Convention (CEC). Surrounded by crisp mountain air, buzzing energy, and a packed agenda of learning and culture, this golden edition of CEC turned out to be one for the books.
A Warm Welcome: Starting Off in Kraków
Even before the official start of the convention, the excitement was already building. A Pre-Conference Tour in Kraków gave participants the chance to wander through the city’s charming cobbled streets, admire Wawel Castle, and get a feel for Poland’s deep-rooted history and vibrant spirit. It was the perfect beginning to a weekend centered around connection, development, and cross-cultural celebration.

Impactful Learning: 5 Powerful Workshops by the CER Management Team
Knowledge-sharing was at the core of this year’s CEC, with the CER Management Team delivering five engaging workshops led by four of its members. Berfin Bağatarhan shared tips on effective design in her Mastering Canva session, while Kevin Meister guided future trainers through T4T: How to Become a Workshop Leader. Tamara Danilovska offered strategies for building strong external partnerships in Making Friends in High Places, and Petar Kasapinov led two practical sessions on Project Management and Presenting Like a Pro. Each workshop offered concrete tools, sparked meaningful discussion, and empowered participants to take new ideas back to their local committees.

Culture, Cuisine, and Mountain Views
Of course, no CEC is complete without cultural exchange, and Poland brought its A-game. From devouring plates of freshly made pierogi to laughing over regional snacks at the International Evening, the atmosphere was full of warmth, curiosity, and shared stories.
And let’s not forget the setting, the quiet charm of Szczyrk’s mountain backdrop gave the entire event a special glow. Whether hiking through the hills or just enjoying a coffee with new friends, the Post-Conference Tour added a peaceful, memorable close to a packed weekend.
Hats Off to IAESTE Poland
None of this would have been possible without the incredible IAESTE Poland team, who organized the event with heart, precision, and hospitality. Celebrating the 50th CEC reminded us not just how far we’ve come as a region, but how much potential lies ahead.
Next up? The 51st CEC in Bosnia & Herzegovina — a new destination, a new adventure, and another chance to bring the IAESTE spirit to life. Until then — thank you, Szczyrk. And here’s to the next 50!
