49th CEC Hungary: Balaton Memories to Last a Lifetime

Group photo from the 49th CEC in Révfülöp, Hungary.

From September 27 to 29, 2024, the IAESTE community brought its vibrant energy to the calm shores of Lake Balaton, Hungary’s most iconic lake. For one unforgettable weekend, the quiet town of Révfülöp transformed into a lively meeting point of cultures, ideas, and friendships, as over 150 participants from across Central Europe came together for the 49th Central European Convention.

CER by the Water

Révfülöp offered the perfect balance between nature and comfort. With peaceful lake views on one side and thought-provoking workshops on the other, the weekend felt both grounding and inspiring. It was a chance to disconnect from everyday routines and reconnect with what IAESTE is really about: learning, growing, and building lasting bonds.

This edition of CEC was extra special, not just for the stunning location but also for the energy it carried. Flags from more than 15 countries waved proudly beside the lake. Familiar cheers echoed across the venue. And that classic CEC banner? It reminded everyone they were right where they belonged.

Workshops That Sparked Curiosity

CEC has always been about more than just meeting new people, it’s about learning something meaningful. This year’s workshops were no exception. Covering a wide range of topics like Exchange for Beginners, Project Management, Cultural Communication, and CER Strategy, each session created space for open dialogue and real exchange of ideas.

Junior members came with questions. Senior members came with stories. And everyone left feeling a little more confident and connected to their local and regional committees.

International Evening: Europe on a Plate

It’s the moment we all wait for, and once again, International Evening delivered. Picture this: a room filled with flavors from every corner of Europe. Sweet Belgian waffles, spicy Turkish snacks, creamy ajvar from Macedonia, crisp Polish vodka, every table told a story.

And it wasn’t just about the food. The dance floor came alive with traditional music, national dances, and of course, the iconic IAESTE Dance that brings us all together no matter where we’re from.

Gratitude to IAESTE Hungary

Pulling off an event like this is no small feat, but IAESTE Hungary made it look effortless. From the thoughtful planning to the warm hospitality, everything ran smoothly, and with heart. A huge thank you to the entire organizing team for creating a space where new friendships could bloom and old ones could grow stronger.

As we look back on Révfülöp, we’re already looking ahead to the next chapter, the 50th CEC, a golden milestone that promises even more. Until then, we carry the spirit of Balaton with us, and the memories of a weekend we’ll never forget.
