What is the CEC?

The Central European Convention (CEC) represents a biannual IAESTE conference that brings all IAESTE members in Central Europe together, in one place. This year, we have the honor to invite you to our loving country Hungary and explore its beauty at best.

Location

Discover Lake Balaton

  • Lake Balaton: The largest lake in Central Europe, often called the “Hungarian Sea.”
  • Kékszalag Regatta: A prestigious sailing race between Révfülöp and Balatonboglár.
  • Tourism Hub: Just outside Budapest, Lake Balaton is a top destination for travelers.
  • Balaton Uplands Wines: Renowned local wines, perfect for tasting with stunning views.
  • Tihany Peninsula: Home to breathtaking scenery and the first Hungarian written record.
  • Kis-Balaton: A peaceful retreat with rich wildlife and serene landscapes.
  • Swans: Graceful and iconic, adding charm to the lake’s beauty.

Beach Szálló Révfülöp

  • Lakefront Location: Directly on Lake Balaton’s shores in Révfülöp, with stunning views and beach access.

Travel Guide

OPTION A – BY CAR

  • In Hungary there are a lot of highways, and the roads – especially near Balaton – are good
  • The roads are free except highways, there you need to buy a Highway ticket online or at any gas station.
  • There are plenty of parking spaces at the venue and nearby
  • Also a good option if you wish to stay in Hungary to explore it’s beauty more than the duration of CEC
  • Exact location: 8253 Révfülöp, Halász u. 37.

OPTION B – PUBLIC TRANSPORT

  • Airport: BUD – Budapest Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtér
  • Train Stations: Keleti Railway Station, Nyugati Railway Station, Déli Railway Station, Kelenföld Railway Station
  • The Route by plane:
    1. Arriving at BUD
    2. Take a taxi to Kelenföld Railway Station or bus 100E to Kálvin Square
    3. If you took the bus then at Kálvin Square hop on the M4 Metro (green line) to Kelenföld Railway Station
    4. At the station take the train to Révfülöp
    5. Finally walk 5-10 minutes to the venue
  • The Route by train or FlixBus:
    1. Arriving at Budapest any station
    2. Take a Budapest public transportation to Kelenföld or Déli Railway Station depending which is closer
    3. At the station take the train to Révfülöp
    4. Finally walk 5-10 minutes to the venue
  • You can buy tickets and plan your route online at:
    1. Budapest: BKK
    2. Train: MÁV
  • Both of the above have an APP (BudapestGO, and MÁV)

OPTION C – BONUS

  • You can hire a car at the airport. For more details click HERE
  • You can also hire a car at MOL or Wigo (they have options at the airport as well)

  • 1st round: 05.08. – 16.08.
  • 2nd round: 26.28. – 06.09
  • Confirmation of the 1st round: 17.08. – 19.08.
  • Confirmation of the 2nd round: 07.09 – 10.09
  • Payment deadline 1st round: 25.08.
  • Payment deadline 2nd round: 16.09

FEES:

  • Full CER member: 130 €
  • Associate CER member: 133 €
  • Outside CER: 135 €
Full members: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia 

Associate members: Macedonia, Turkiye

Confirmation of rounds: In order to be accepted at the conference, first we ask for your country's representative to confirm your participation.
